Quaker Credit Union

At the Application stage with the FCA/PRA, our Credit Union Project is coming to fruition.

We hope to establish a new Credit Union, to be called the “Simple Quaker Credit Union” (SQCU).

There is a growing concern amongst a significant segment of the users of financial services that they may be financing operations through their savings which are not consistent with ethical or community values.

United by a Common Bond aligned to Quaker values: simplicity, equality, honesty and fairness – savers and borrowers who join the Simple Quaker Credit Union would find a home for short to medium term financing with none of these concerns.

We expect to thrive and grow by offering competitive interest rates on loans to members – particularly those with low credit ratings – while still providing acceptable returns to savers.

Ethical Dilemma Discussions, Spiritual Accompaniment, coaching and mentoring

Members are invited to come to a Zoom meeting once a week on a Friday evening where we chat generally and air any problems or dilemmas we encounter in our work. Spiritual accompaniment is about finding a wider perspective on our working lives. Coaching and mentoring is confidentially sharing thoughts about their business situation.

Restoring Relations

Conflict is inevitable…it’s how we handle it that matters. Restoring Relations is a project involving a number of Q&B members, that aims to help individuals and organisations handle conflict better. The project provides free online information and runs workshops in the UK.
